The year 2014 marked the eighteenth year of production of the Proof Platinum American Eagle series. The U.S Mint continued its design series for the Proof Platinum coin which features the concept “To Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and Our Posterity”, which would be the final design in the Foundations of American Democracy Series. The design carried a depiction of Young Liberty carrying a torch with the sun rising in the background over a gentle landscape. In 2014 the Mint struck 4,596 one-ounce proof Platinum American Eagles which represented nearly a 20% decrease in overall mintage when compared to the previous year. Less than 9% of the coins struck have received the perfect PF70 grade by NGC.

- The obverse features the face of the famous Statue of Liberty, as she is also raising her arm. The reverse depicts a Young Liberty carrying a torch with the sun rising in the background over a gentle landscape.
