On January 3, 2012, the US Mint began sales of the 2012 Gold Eagle in all denominations to authorized purchasers. The series includes four different sizes, one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, and tenth-ounce coins. Production fell across all denominations with the half-ounce piece seeing the largest reduction with only 43,000 pieces minted, which equates to a 38% drop compared to the previous year. Only 2,333 pieces have been certified perfect 70 by NGC. Furthermore, the label is hand-signed by former U.S Mint director Edmund Moy who was also named one of the most influential people in numismatics by Coin World. The intricate detail and clarity combined with the amazing luster will make this flawless Gold Eagle appealing to both collectors and investors.
