In 2009 the worldwide demand for precious metals was so strong created sourcing problems for the United States Mint that impacted both bullion and collectible coin offerings. The United States Mint offered the half-ounce version of the bullion coin briefly only during the month of December. The mint produced over 270,000 one-tenth ounce Gold Eagles that year and less than 1% have received the perfect grade of 70 by NGC. This is a must add to any collection.
