2002 marked the 6th year of issue for the Platinum American Eagle series. While production increased for some denominations, the tenth-ounce piece saw a 55% drop in production versus the previous year. Just over 23,000 tenth-ounce pieces were minted, which was a record low for the time. Less than 5% of all one-tenth-ounce pieces produced that year have achieved the perfect grade of 70 by NGC. At first glance, you will notice the impeccably smooth, unmarked silver-gray surfaces. This tenth of an ounce Platinum coin is an amazing investment or a terrific addition to a collection. Fractional MS70 platinum is sought after by collectors and investors worldwide due to the fact the mint no longer produces fractional pieces.
The coin(s) featured is an example of the piece we have in stock. The coin(s) you receive may have a different certification number than pictured. Coins that are in PCGS/NGC protective holders will all have a label protected within the holder that will indicate the coin's certification number, grade, date, denomination, and unique bar code.
