Do you like to shop gold coins in West Palm Beach and happens to love dogs? If yes, then you should probably add this Australian Gold Dog Coin to your collection. In 2018, we celebrated the 11th animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac – the Chinese Lunar Dog. During this year, the beautifully struck Australian Gold Dog Coin became a part of the Perth Mint’s Lunar Series.
The reverse of this coin depicts a chocolate Labrador retriever standing on rocks and featuring a stylized pine tree in the background. It was designed by Ing Ing Jong. On the other hand, the obverse is the fourth coinage effigy of Queen Elizabeth II which was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley.The Chinese character for ‘dog’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dog’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. Because this Australian Gold Dog Coin became one of the most highly predicted annual releases in the gold market, it is extremely limited. Although it was issued as an Australian Legal Tender, the quantity of this exquisite coin became scarce with only 3,000 to 4,000 individual coins for each weight. This limited production coin is available in 2 oz., 1, oz., ½ oz., ¼ oz., and 1/10 oz., .9999 fine gold.
